10/8/24 – Ketamine

Let’s talk about drugs!!

Anxiety, Depression, CPTSD, etc – Have you tried Ketamine?

I have CPTSD & ADHD and whatever else. The ADHD isn’t as much of a problem as the CPTSD, I get triggered very easily and by oh so many things. So most of my day is actually trying to not get triggered – avoidance at its finest lol.

So let’s look at Casey’s mental health 3 months ago – I slept half of my day away just from the overwhelm. I had a mental breakdown at least 3x a week in the shower. I still had a hard time leaving the house for anything other than work and the gym. I had no energy to even feed myself. I was constantly triggered and constantly battling the flashbacks, night mares, and panic attacks that came with them.

Personally, I don’t want to take a Big Pharma thing that I will need for the rest of my life just to function and kills my body slowly – I’m doing a good enough job of killing it all on my own lmfao

Side note – you do you boo boo. If Big Pharma is what you need, do it. Everyone’s healing journey is different and what works for me may not work for you and that is completely okay. What’s important is finding the right mix of whatever to help YOU feel like your best and most authentic self ❤

I take: Ketamine! I take low dose ketamine and I pair it with breath work and meditation. I’m about a month in and I am already a LOT better at handling my triggers.

Now, I have only had 1 menty-b this month and I nap maybe once a week. I have been able to be consistent with my goals in creating stability for myself, and I can even sit through a conversation about or adjacent to my trauma without getting triggered. I am getting better at basic self care like feeding myself – which is an ADHD thing too. It honestly feels like the breath work + ketamine mix was a jet pack to healing when I added it in my tool kit of recovery.

Sooo what is the deal with Ketamine? – here’s a YouTube video

It’s only about a 10 minute video.

But here’s the gist of how it works: Our brains are hard wired to keep us safe. When something traumatic happens to us, our brains note things associated with the trauma as danger – to try to avoid being hurt again.

Example: We got into a bad car accident once and now every time we see break lights our heart rate goes up and we have anxiety. Trigger.

Our brain doesn’t know if something is actually dangerous, all it knows is that there was once danger there and it’s trying to protect us.

Ketamine is a psychedelic – not the see smells and taste colors kind, but a light euphoric kind. In the low dose form and paired with another healing modality like breath work and meditation, it opens up new neuropathways to allow our brains to rewire themselves so that we don’t struggle with things like: Depression, Anxiety, CPTSD, etc.

The company I use for Ketamine is Joyous ($129 a month) – I don’t have a referral link so Google that shit lol. It is a little annoying the first month you do daily check ins but they only take 5 minutes. They claim most people can stop using the meds after 6 months of treatment. I’ve personally had a dramatic improvement in my symptoms in just 1 month.

The app I use for breath work and meditation is Othership ($30 a month) – I adore them. They have all kinds of audios, my top faves are Inner Child and Self Acceptance.

Another side note – I am not a doctor. I spoke to my therapist about it before I started taking it. Before making a decision do your own research and speak to your own mental and health care professional ❤

It’s one of those things where if you’re willing to put in the work to heal and be a better human, both are great tools. There is no magic pill, healing is a process and it takes time and effort. But baby, I promise you, it’s worth it 🙂 ❤

I hope you have a marvelous day and make yourself proud today ❤ ❤ ❤
